The Logan Albert Catchment

The Knapp Creek focal area, approximately twenty-five km southwest of Beaudesert, spans an area of 7,500 ha and is dominated by Marburg formation sandstone hills with sodic subsoils.

Grazing is the primary land use in the area with a mixture of native and improved pastures. Remnants of open woodland are scattered throughout the catchment.

Research has estimated that 6,000 tonnes of soil erodes from the catchment every year, with much of this exported as sediment into the river.

Projects in Knapp Creek have focused on:

  • The control of over land flows
  • Management of topsoil
  • On ground engineering works to assist in the restoration of the catchment.
