Planning ahead
The Science and Innovation Program is committed to the delivery of on-time, on-budget and best-practice scientific advice that meets the needs of all our stakeholders.
In 2011, the Science and Innovation Program will aim to:
• launch the SEQ-MSE as a useful adaptive management tool for making decisions regarding water quality and ecosystem health
• conduct further refinements to the health-e-waterways website to assist with streamlining EHMP data requests and tracking the effectiveness of management actions
• invest further in the RWQM v3 project to support the ongoing development and review of local and regional management actions
• visit council staff and community representatives in SEQ to present the benefits of using science tools when managing coastal waters
• establish additional working groups to guide the EHMP’s new monitoring programs for human health and management actions.
“The Science and Innovation Program delivered some noteworthy outcomes in 2010. These included the development of the Management Strategy Evaluation tool and a new three dimensional Receiving Water Quality Model for SEQ coasts, estuaries and Moreton Bay.
These two projects represent advances in waterway science that will assist decision-making for waterway health initiatives. I would like to acknowledge the contribution and leverage of resources from the research partners and stakeholders of Healthy Waterways.”
