RWQM The Transport Sub Model

The transport model is the component of the RWQM2 that simulates the spatial concentration of constituents in the water body.

The variation of constituent concentration is defined by two major mechanisms: advection and dispersion. Advection is the movement of the constituent as it is carried along by the water, whereas dispersion represents the rate at which the constituent spreads over an area due to random motion and turbulence.

Since in a well calibrated hydrodynamic model, the movement of water is well defined, it is the dispersion that needs to be calibrated in the transport model.
