  • Total area: 3,076km2
  • Stream network length: 5,486km
  • Local Councils: Scenic Rim Council, Logan City Council, Ipswich City Council, Brisbane City Council
  • Dominant land uses: grazing, native bush, rural residential, intensive agriculture
  • Headwaters rise in Mt Barney National Park and are in relatively pristine condition
  • Upper catchment has been extensively cleared for agriculture, grazing and dairying
  • Mid and lower reaches flow through rural residential and urban areas
  • Several aquaculture facilities are located along the banks of the Logan River near its mouth
Freshwater results

  • Streams generally in poor condition.
  • However, an increase in nutrient cycling.
Estuarine results
FLogan Estuary   
  • Poor water quality.
  • High nutrient concentrations, high turbidity and low dissolved oxygen concentration.
