  • Total area: 281km2
  • Stream network length: 525km
  • Local Councils: Brisbane City Council, Logan City Council, Redland City Council
  • Dominant land uses: urban, native bush, intensive agriculture, market gardens, grazing
  • Tingalpa Reservoir impounds Tingalpa Creek
  • Four WWTPs discharge into the Redlands/Waterloo Bay catchment
  • Rapid urbanisation of the catchment over recent years has led to the conversion of market gardens/agricultural land to residential areas and construction of canal estates
Freshwater results
FRedlands Catchment  
  • Streams in poor condition.
  • Substantial improvement in the Physical/Chemical indicator, slight improvements in the Aquatic Macroinvertebrates and Fish indicators throughout the year.
  • Decline in Nutrient Cycling.
Estuarine results
CTingalpa Estuary  
  • Grade is a stable C, despite an increase in turbidity levels, which were higher at all but the uppermost sites.
CEprapah Estuary  
  • Increase in phytoplankton abundance.
  • Decline in dissolved oxygen concentrations.
  • Increase in nitrogen concentrations and continued high phosphorus concentrations.
