Total area: 825km

Stream network length: 1,770km

Dominant land uses: native bush, grazing, rural residential, urban
The upper catchment of the North and South Pine Rivers is part of the undeveloped areas of Brisbane Forest Park and Bunyaville State Forest
The mid reaches flow through rural residential areas, before entering the highly urbanised lower catchment
The North Pine River is impounded by North Pine Dam to form Lake Samsonvale. Another impoundment, Lake Kurwongbah, is situated on a tributary of the North Pine River
Residential development is the major pressure on the catchment

Streams generally in fair condition.
An increase in aquatic macroinvertebrates offset by a decrease in ecosystem processes.
Estuarine results

Pine Estuary
Continued high nutrients offset by decrease in turbidity and phytoplankton concentration and an increase in biological health.
